How to show your academics
- Degree: 'B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering, [College], Anna University', with CGPA as '8.2 / 10'
- 12th and 10th: board (State Board, CBSE, Matriculation) and percentage
- Lateral entry? Add your diploma with the polytechnic and percentage
- A one-line academic note: 'No standing arrears' if true
What to include that recruiters expect
- NPTEL certificates, especially Elite or Gold
- In-plant training and internships, with what you did
- Paper presentations and symposium prizes under Achievements
- NSS, NCC and club roles under Positions of responsibility
- Your final-year project, marked clearly
Common mistakes to avoid
- Two-column or graphic-heavy designs that ATS tools read in the wrong order
- A long objective that says nothing specific ("seeking a challenging position…")
- Listing 30 skills, including ones you can't answer interview questions on
- Project bullets that describe the project but not what you did
- No numbers anywhere: users, accuracy, marks, time saved
- A second page full of hobbies and personal details like father's name and date of birth

Questions
FAQ
Should I mention my arrears?
Don't list past arrears on the resume. If you have none, a line saying 'No standing arrears' helps. If asked in a form or interview, answer honestly.
Is CGPA or percentage better?
Write it the way your marksheet shows it: CGPA for Anna University degrees, percentages for school. If a company asks for a percentage, use your university's conversion rule.
Can I use this for arts and science colleges too?
Yes. The builder has examples for B.Sc, BCA, B.Com, BBA, MBA and MCA, for colleges under Madras, Bharathiar, Bharathidasan and other universities.
